Spokane to lose 160 million dollars?

September 24, 2008

In a recent review of the budget from Mayor Verners staff, we were told the city has invested 160 million plus in the Fannie and Freddie Companies.

We were told since Uncle Sam was baling Fannie and Freddie out we were ok. Basically the money the city invested in Fannie and Freddie was taxpayer money and since the taxpayer is baling Fannie and Freddie out we get to pay twice. Even though it was stated the city stopped buying Fannie and Freddie 3 years ago because it they not look good, but the city has started buying it again because the government is coming to the rescue. What?

The city makes some investment decisions that don’t work out; the taxpayers get to pay again. Isn’t our own city doing just what Fannie and Freddie and the others did to get us into this mess? Taking high-risk and relying on the taxpayer to bail them out when it takes a nosedive? It isn’t just in Washington folks it is right here in good ol Spokane.

What Color is Obama

September 24, 2008

Written by Dr. Jack Wheeler

The O-man, Barack Hussein Obama, is an eloquently tailored empty suit. No resume, no accomplishments, no experience, no original ideas, no understanding of how the economy works, no understanding of how the world works, nothing but abstract empty rhetoric devoid of real substance.

He has no real identity. He is half-white, which he rejects. The rest of him is mostly Arab, which he hides but is disclosed by his non-African Arabic surname and his Arabic first and middle names as a way to triply proclaim his Arabic parentage to people in Kenya. Only a small part of him is African Black from his Luo grandmother, which he pretends he is exclusively.

What he isn’t, not a genetic drop of, is ‘African-American’, the descendant of enslaved Africans brought to America chained in slave ships. He hasn’t a single ancestor who was a slave. Instead, his Arab ancestors were slave owners. Slave-trading was the main Arab business in East Africa for centuries until the British ended it.

Let that sink in: Obama is not the descendant of slaves, he is the descendant of slave owners. Thus he makes the perfect Liberal Messiah.

It’s something Hillary doesn’t understand – how some complete neophyte came out of the blue and stole the Dem nomination from her. Obamamania is beyond politics and reason. It is a true religious cult, whose adherents reject Christianity yet still believe in Original Sin, transferring it from the evil of being human to the evil of being white.

Thus Obama has become the white liberals’ Christ, offering absolution from the Sin of Being White. There is no reason or logic behind it, no faults or flaws of his can diminish it, no arguments Hillary could make of any kind can be effective against it. The absurdity of hypocrisy clothed in human flesh being their Savior is all the more cause for liberals to worship him:Credo quia absurdum, “I believe it because it is absurd”.

Thank heavens that the voting majority of Americans remain Christian and are in no desperate need of a phony savior.

His candidacy is ridiculous and should not be taken seriously by any thinking American.

Pass this on to every thinking American you know!

City Government disappointing

September 23, 2008

I got my first taste of city government tonight, and to tell the truth was disappointed. Tonight’s meeting was about the ombudsman issue in Spokane. The police guild after 18 months of deliberation has Ok’ed Spokane their right to have an ombudsman. So tonight was the open forum for questions by the public.

But there had been language changes to the document and the council had not seen them yet. So the city attorney had to go through each change describe it and then answer council questions. It was also stated that if the meeting went too long people that did not get to comment could do so next week.

Finally at 8:15 the first citizen got to ask a question it was stated that each person had 3 minutes to state there comment. At 8:45 they were still on the first persons comment because the council asked questions and the city attorney had to explain the ramifications on each item brought up.

Needless to say I went completely unprepared. I had no dinner because I would have never thought I would be there until 9pm and beyond.

I don’t quite understand why the council did not see the revised language on the document before the meeting. And I also do not understand why they did not have stenographer there writing down the citizen comment for review at a later date. Asking questions to the point of whittling down every point was needless, at this stage in the game. Since it appears the council still has not completely reviewed and understand what the guild has Ok’d. Don’t get me wrong I am for everyone getting to comment that is why I went there but I think it could have been organized a little better.

Now I know why government runs so slow, by 9:15 I had enough and left to go home to cold bologna sandwich. Never made my comment, Oh well……….

Spokane Police Morale Down, no more hitting below the belt

September 13, 2008

Boo-hoo-hoo, did you read the story about the cop who kicked a cuffed man in the face and got reported to his superiors by another officer? I guess it has broken the unwritten rule of no telling on others to the point where morale is falling at SPD.

I mean if the instructor of the tactical unit can’t kick a guy when he is down, who can and when and who is watching?

The police are threatening to de-police where as they just cover 911 calls and the rest of the time they can be found at dunkin donuts.

Boo-hoo-hoo one of their own finally gets some truth thrown on their uniform and they are ready to throw in the bag.

Come on stand up like men and women, the citizens have lost 13 lives, what is one career?

Washington State Utilities Commission public comment hearings

September 10, 2008

On March 4, Avista filed a request with the commission to increase rates by an average of 9.2 percent for electric customers and 3.3 percent for natural-gas customers. If the proposed rates are approved, a residential electric customer using 1000 kilowatt-hours a month could expect to pay an additional $6.53 for a total of $77.29. The average residential natural gas customer’s bill would increase by $2.84 a month, if using 70 therms, for a total monthly bill of $87.99.

Avista claims the rate increase is necessary to upgrade the company’s aging infrastructure, such as replacing transmission lines and substations. The utility also says additional money is needed to renew licenses for five dams on the Spokane River and to expand a Lewis County natural gas storage site. In addition, the company is proposing to increase funding for energy assistance programs.

The commission is the state agency in charge of regulating the private, investor-owned electric and natural-gas companies in Washington. It is the commission’s responsibility to ensure regulated companies provide safe and reliable service to customers at reasonable rates, while allowing them the opportunity to earn a fair profit.

New rates must be approved by the three-member commission. If approved, new rates would take effect in 2009.

The commission will host two public comment hearings for you to give your comments to the commissioners regarding Avista’s request. The first will be at noon in Pullman, and the second will be in Spokane on Sept 18 at 6pm at the Masonic Temple (1108 W Riverside) Blue room.

To testify at the hearings, please register your name on the sign-in sheet near the entrance of the meeting room. When the administrative law judge calls your name, you may proceed to the podium and give your comments to the commissioners. If someone before you has given comments similar to yours, you may state that you’re in agreement with the earlier speaker.

The Public Counsel Section of the Washington Attorney General’s Office (Public Counsel) will participate in this case on behalf of Avista customers. All comments, written and in-person, will be submitted into the formal record by Public Counsel before the commission makes its final decision.
